This training aid has been designed to help reinforce the classroom training and enhance the on-road experience. You may want to start your training day by having the students clearly print their name in the space provided on the cover of the “Driver Study Guide”. This will help the student keep track of their “Driver Study Guide” through the day. The first part of the “Driver Study Guide” carries the 5 Key information in two sections, forward and backing motion. At the end of each section is a detachable quiz to measure and document student comprehension, be sure to have the students fill in the spaces for name, date and other employee information. These quizzes may be torn from the “Driver Study Guide” and administered in typical test fashion, to be corrected later, or better by passing the completed quiz to your neighbor and allowing the group to deliver the correct answers through discussion. This quiz may also be presented as an open-book test, allowing the students to review the 5 Key materials when necessary to be sure of their answers. Another way to use the quiz would be to use it in round-robin fashion to stimulate a group discussion of the questions and correct answers based on your presentation and/or the “Driver Study Guide”. If you are presenting a refresher course, you will find a Refresher Quiz (RFQ) on the backside of the Forward Motion Quiz (FMQ). This quiz carries questions dealing with 5 Key information found in both sections, forward and backing motion.

As you move the students to the behind-the-wheel environment, you may want to use the Vehicle Backing/Parking Evaluation Form (VBPE)SV/T to bring home backing and parking points discussed in the classroom. This real-world assessment of parking choices and delivery of 5 Key tempered collision avoidance solutions, helps students realize the value of the information you are delivering.

As you prepare to evaluate the driver’s ability on-road with the detachable 2-part Driver Evaluation Form (DEF), take a few minutes to review the form and notice the new Key/Drill grid at the bottom of the form. If you turn the form over, you will notice a series of numbered behind-the-wheel drills printed on the back. When you review your evaluation with the student after his/her drive, you should look for any low scores and find a corresponding Drill to help the student improve their performance and change undesirable habits. The Drills you choose should be marked on the front of the 2-part Driver Evaluation Form (DEF) in the Key/Drill grid at the bottom of the form. A copy of this detachable form should be removed and used to chronicle the training event, the other half left in the student’s “Driver Study Guide” to help them continue to modify their deficient driving habits.

We have also included a comprehensive detachable On Road Quiz (ORQ) to test the student’s understanding of some Key points delivered in on-road environment. We recommend that you ask your students to fill this quiz out towards the end of their training day so you have plenty of time to repeatedly cover the points. If they missed one, this is the way to find out and redeliver it before the training day is complete.

Included in this “Driver Study Guide” is a detachable Certificate of Completion to be filled in by you upon successful completion of the training day. If the student does not pass, the certificate along with all quizzes should be retained and further training rescheduled.

On the back cover of the “Driver Study Guide” you will find our 5 Key Static Sticker to be used as a windshield reminder of the need to drive everyday using the 5 Keys. Order

Instructor Audit Forms - SSF-529
