We implemented the Smith System back in late 2003 first, by having five of my top drivers and myself complete your rigorous 40 hour train the trainer course. Once this training was completed, we in turn trained
the entire drive force for Teichert Readymix, (1 10 drivers). Our
fiscal year runs from April 1 through March 3 1 of the following year.
Lee, in the '04-'05 fiscal year, we suffered only four (4) vehicle
accidents, three of which the The one accident we were at fault was caused by a driver that had not yet been through the Smith training. According to the safety director for the NRMC A, (National Readymix Concrete Association), there was only one (1 ) other company nationwide that could boast of such a record! As we near the close of the '05-06 year, our numbers are at least as good, if not better than that of '04-'05. I'll keep you posted on our progress as we prepare our refresher course for both instructors as well as drivers. It is truly a pleasure working with all of you. Your organization is highly professional, extremely helpful, and your instructors are quite well versed in vehicle safety and actually make an interesting and fun presentation. Teichert Readymix has learned an invaluable lesson in over the road safety through the Smith System, and is reaping the rewards!
